On Sunday, December 13th, 2009, the 10th Annual “Give A Child Christmas” car show was held at the Hardee’s restaurant on US 19 in Brooksville, Florida. Bright sunny skies, and a quick warm up along with the sounds of the season filling the air gave the event a Christmas in July feeling. The proceeds from the show benefit foster children through Youth & Family Alternatives, and the C.E. Cruisers hosted the event. Upon registration, dash plaques were given out to the first 100 vehicles, along with goody bags to help spread holiday cheer. In return, car show participants brought in a new unwrapped toy as part of the registration fee, and early on the pile filled the tables set up in front of Hardee’s.
After the registration closed around 12:30pm, the remainder of the activities throughout the afternoon included a Chinese auction, and door prizes that were donated by Advance Auto Parts were given away around 2:00pm, followed by the trophy presentation. The awards categories included the Top 75 awards, followed by several “Best Of” categories, including Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine, Best Engine Compartment, Best Unfinished, along with two Best of Show trophies, one for 1979 & Older, and the other for 1980 and newer. A Club Participation award was also given out, which was earned by the Breakfast Club, and the 50/50 drawing was held, paying out $331 to the winner.
The 10th Annual “Give A Child Christmas” car show is an annual event hosted by the C.E. Cruisers, and is held to benefit abused and adoptable children thru an agency called Youth & Family Alternatives. The show is usually held at the Hardee’s on US 19, just north of SR50 and the Weeki Wachee Mermaid Attraction.
